2025-2026 Policy Agreement – Fresno School of Music

SCHOOL POLICIES – The policies of the Fresno School of Music have been established to assure consistency, fairness and continuity of study. We ask that you abide by them.

Please read all sections and initial as indicated below.

Tuition

Our annual tuition is conveniently divided into 11 equal payments with a half payment due for August. Tuition is the same each month regardless of the number of weeks or lessons in the month. Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. NO CREDIT IS GIVEN FOR ABSENCES. Books, materials, and recital fees are charged separately. NOTE: July tuition is due on or before June 15th. This allows the school to finalize the year’s administrative records before the busy summer music class projects and the end of the music school year.

Late Fee

A $15.00 late fee will be assessed if tuition payments are not received by the 15th of the month. We will charge the credit card we have on file for the monthly tuition plus the late fee if tuition is not received by the 15th. The Music School reserves the right to suspend students for nonpayment of tuition. (Arrangements for alternate payment dates can be made with the Music Director.)

The preferred method of tuition payment is online through our website. All major credit cards will be accepted for online payments. We are also happy to accept payments by Zelle.

If you need to make alternative payments arrangements (checks, cash, or direct deposit), please contact the director or your teacher.

Absences

Consistent attendance is vital to you and/or your child’s music study. Parents and students need to be prepared for this commitment. Regular attendance is expected, and students are charged for all lessons in which they are registered, regardless of attendance.

Absences for Group Lessons

Make-ups are not guaranteed. However, upon teacher approval, we will do our best to schedule you into another class AT THE SAME LEVEL. In-person lessons may be made up in a remote class setting. A phone call or text to the music school and/or the instructor keeps the teacher informed. A copy of the assignment will be provided to you by e-mail, phone or text.

Absences for Private Lessons

When a student signs up for private lessons, he/she is paying to reserve a specific time slot. Since no other students can be booked during this time, payment of the lesson is still due. The teacher is not required to make up lessons missed by the student for any reason, including illness, vacation, schedule conflict, etc. If an in-person lesson needs to be missed for illness, the student can take their lesson remotely at their scheduled time. However, the teacher is not obligated to make up lessons for student absences, and only one (1) makeup lesson will be offered per semester.

Substitutions

Fresno School of Music reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or unable to teach classes or private lessons. If the teacher is ill and the school cannot arrange a substitute, any missed classes or lessons will be offered a make-up. Please note that make-up lessons will likely be scheduled on a different day than your regularly scheduled class. A MAXIMUM of 2 make-up options will be offered for a cancelled private and 1 make-up option will be offered for a cancelled class. No credit will be given if a student cancels or misses a make-up lesson, and an alternative time will not be offered. Missed make-up lessons (for any reason) will be forfeited.

Class Size

Should the size of an in-person group class decrease to fewer than 4 students during the year, Fresno School of Music reserves the right to adjust the length of the class time without a change in tuition as follows:

3 students – 45-minute class
2 students – 30-minute class

In order to provide our students with the most effective learning experience, remote class times may vary. We do reserve the right to regroup/combine classes.

Withdrawal

A one-month written notice is required to discontinue any lessons from the Music School. Students withdrawing from the school must complete and sign a withdrawal notice provided by the school office. NOTIFYING THE INSTRUCTOR AND/OR FAILURE TO ATTEND LESSONS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE WITHDRAWAL. YOUR CREDIT CARD ON FILE

WILL BE BILLED (including late fees) UNTIL A WRITTEN WITHDRAWAL IS RECEIVED. Students withdrawing from the school shall pay tuition to the end of the four-week notice period.

Notification of important dates will be sent to parents via text, e-mail, or both.

Parental Agreement

I agree to pay the full monthly tuition, regardless of lessons missed, in addition to charges for materials and recital fees.
br/> It is understood and agreed that a four (4) week written notice and an appointment with the Teacher or Director are required to withdraw from the school, and that tuition shall be paid to the end of the four (4) week period.
